Riverside Children’s Theatre’s preschool enrichment program introduces three and four year olds to music, stories and theatre.. With a different theme each month, children hear stories, sing songs, create characters and make a craft.  The March 6 event will celebrate all things Dr. Seuss with some of his favorite stories and songs.  With make up, their own hat that they will create and a little imagination each child will become the Cat in the Hat!

The program takes place at 10 a.m. at the Agnes Wahlstrom Youth Playhouse, 3280 Riverside Park Drive, Vero Beach.  Fee is $10 per parent/child.  Each event is $10 per parent/child. Pre registering is encouraged.  Call the children’s theatre at 772-234-8052 for more information. 

 

Riverside Children’s Theatre’s new program, Schoolsical, will present two performances of “The Jungle Book Kids” in the Anne Morton Theatre, 3280 Riverside Park Drive, Vero Beach on Dec. 5 and 6.  Performance times both days are 1:30 p.m.  “The Jungle Book Kids” is the stage version of the Disney movie featuring all the popular characters including Mowgli, Baloo and the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan. 

Cast members of the Saturday performance consist of students from Pelican Island Elementary and of the Sunday performance students from Osceola Magnet School.  Rehearsals have been conducted at the schools over the past 15 weeks.  Show director is Shannon Huneryager.   Tickets to both performances of “The Jungle Book Kids” are on sale to the public and are $8.  They may be purchased by calling the box office at 772-231-6990 or by visiting the website at www.riversidetheatre.com.  Riverside Children’s Theatre is the educational arm of Riverside Theatre, Inc.

Riverside Children’s Theatre announces casting for two productions of “The Jungle Book Kids” that are the products of an innovative new program the theatre has instituted in partnership with local schools.  The program, Schoolsical, places a director from RCT into selected elementary schools to audition and rehearse a show at the school site.  Final rehearsals and performances featuring full production support from Riverside Theatre will take place in the Anne Morton Theatre, 3280 Riverside Park Drive, Vero Beach on Dec. 5 and 6 at 1:3 0 p.m.  This program has received funding through the Culture Builds Florida program of the state of Florida, Division of Cultural Affairs.

Director Shannon Huneryager has worked with students from Pelican Island Elementary and Osceola Magnet schools this fall.  Cast members from Pelican Island are Lilith Alvaro, Alize Buckner, Ashley Button, Spencer Cady, Samantha Coluccio, Sh-nieya Dixon, Kayla Eidem, Kelsey Hooker, Angelina Horskin, Finn Howell, Symphani Ingram, Jaden Kebbel, Chloe Larabie, Collen Loo, Riley McDonald, Jasmine O’Grady, Sarah Ramos, Mily Ann Salgado, Ruth :Phillippe, Alexys Scott, Emely Shadis, Andrew Shepherd, Mark Thompson, Sy-Mone Thompson, Julia Weinbrecht, Brooke Yates and Kylie Yoder.  Cast members from Osceola Magnet are Anna Birnholz, Nicole Bowler, Madeline Brewer, Daisy Cabanas, Samantha Cass, Abbey Crawford, Ryan Cummings, Briana Frampton, Meghan Frampton, Raegen Gibbons, Mary Kate Hiller, Kathleen Kachaylc, Isabel Lahti, Abi Lamm, TJ Lamm, Melissa Marzouk, Maddie McCain, Faith McFadden, Isabel Morby, Destiny Patterson, Lexie Patton, Jilian Roberts, Michael Schiefer, Samanta Skinnide, Carly Sorensen, Alisa Tarrats and Renee Woulard.

Be one of the first to visit the forest of decorated holiday trees at the annual Festival of Trees to benefit the educational programs of Riverside Children’s Theatre.  The Gala Preview Party opens the event on Friday, Nov. 20 at 6:30 with a tree lighting.  The Festival theme, “Hands Around the World,” will be carried out with food from the four corners of the world to include the Orient, Mediterranean, Latin America and Main Street, USA.  Entertainment will also take on an international flair with Steeldrums of the Caribbean and, for those who want something more subdued, a piano bar featuring entertainer Alan Palander.  

Included in the $150 per person ticket is a cocktail buffet and open bar.  A junior ticket at $75 per person is available in advance for those 35 and under.

Riverside Children’s Theatre Philosophy of Education Each child has the freedom to express himself/herself in an emotionally and physically safe environment.  Each child has the opportunity to explore his/her specific interests in all areas of theatre and is encouraged to do so through classroom work and performance.  With respect to RCT productions, the objective is to produce the highest quality show possible while emphasizing the process, providing all children the opportunity to perform in some capacity, and in finding a place for each individual child’s special talents.  Riverside Children’s Theatre programs are inclusive to all children.
